Self-Story Essay
I am currently a student at Aiea High School and I have had numerous experiences within my community and in the school. I am a tennis player and through playing tennis I have learnt how important endurance and success means. Therefore, I have played many times and through all of them I have gained a lot of experience that is not only important in the field but also in academics. For instance, in tennis a person needs mental attention and when it is time to act, they have to act very swiftly while at the same time avoiding injury. This means that there are special skills that are needed. This can be transferred to the classroom in that in every classroom mental attention is very important and when a person needs to act is also important to know. Endurance and hard work are important in classroom or lab activities thus every time a person wants to give up and in this case me, I can always remember what would happen in tennis if I gave up and therefore, I keep going. I have also interacted with people of different faiths, beliefs and cultures and this helps me understand people better and live with them well. I am generous, caring and I am also athletic. I value these qualities because they are defining factors of the people I would like to associate with. However, it does not restrict my friends and colleagues to these specific qualities but I can also interact with a wide range of people.
Studying pharmacy is an important part of my life and my desire. When I was assisting at Salt Lake shopping center at a pharmacy, I realized the importance of having access to medicine and this has been my goal throughout to make sure that all the neighborhoods that do not have access to medicine they need have it. Therefore, my goal is to learn pharmacy and later begin my own chain of pharmacies that will be accessible in places where there are no pharmacies and in places where the people are either too sick or too old to travel for long distance to get medications. Another way I which I can serve the community is that a lot of pharmacies usually don’t have all the drugs that people get prescribed for when they go to hospitals. This means that they have to go around looking for a specific medicine that they are not aware if it exists in a certain pharmacy. However, in my pharmacies I would make sure all medications and drugs are available. This means that when a person comes looking for certain medication from the chemist, they will get it from any of the pharmacies which I will set up. However, before I get to this, I would like to serve people diligently and in a caring manner from the pharmacy that I will be employed before I come up with my own pharmacies. The experience I will gain will help me make a better pharmacist and when I begin my own chain of pharmacies it will be easy to manage and run.
