When citing from the Bible in the body of your paper, simply follow the quoted excerpt with a parenthetical citation listing the book, chapter, and verse reference. For example, (Matthew 5:8). On the Works Cited page, simply list the edition of the Bible you are using. You only need to list it once, no matter how many verses you cite from that edition.
If you include citations from other versions, list each version separately on your Works Cited page, but only once. However, be sure to identify the different versions in the parenthetical citations in the body of the essay following the selected quotations from that version.
If you are using the biblical translations included in your textbook, you may simply cite the relevant page number in the body of the paper. Then, list the class text on the Works Cited page using the model on the previous page.
